What Really Happens During an ABA Assessment?

If someone recently told you your child needs an ABA assessment, you’re probably wondering what that even means. The good news is it’s not a test, and your child isn’t expected to “pass” or “fail” anything.

The assessment is simply our chance to get to know your child.

We spend time observing how they communicate, play, follow directions, interact with others, and move through their day. We also spend just as much time getting to know you because you know your child better than anyone else. We want to hear what’s going well, what’s been difficult, and what goals you have for your family.

Every child is different, so every assessment looks a little different. Some children jump right into activities, while others need time to warm up. That’s okay. We meet your child where they are.

After the assessment, we create a treatment plan that is built specifically for your child. We aren’t checking boxes or using the same goals for every family. We choose goals that will make a real difference in your child’s everyday life, whether that’s communicating more, becoming more independent, learning new skills, or reducing behaviors that are making daily routines most difficult.

Starting ABA can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out. At C The World, we’re here to answer your questions, support your family, and make the process as simple as possible from day one.
